The proposal consists of a development area of approximately 8.5 acres (3.4 hectares), with the area within the red line boundary being approximately 26 acres (10.5 hectares).

A grid connection has been secured with National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET). It is proposed to connect to the substation via underground cable.

Proposed Site Loaction Plan

Battery storage has an important role to play in supporting the decarbonisation of our energy supply as it provides a balancing mechanism to reduce the risk of power shortages, blackouts and optimises the use of renewable energy generated. In periods when electricity supply outweighs the demand, the proposed development would provide the capacity to store electricity, which would otherwise be wasted. It will then return electricity to the national grid when baseload supply falls below the level of demand and there would otherwise be an electricity shortage.

Proposed Lanscape Plane

We are progressing with design development, environmental and technical assessment work and have consulted with the public and local stakeholders. All comments received during the consultation will be considered when finalising the design and site layout of the development prior to submission of the planning application.

We held a public exhibition to share information about our plans and seek feedback from stakeholders and the local community. This drop-in event was held at:

Rhoose Community Centre, Stewart Road, Rhoose, CF62 3EZ on Thursday 13 March 2025 from 1pm to 7pm.
